“Au temps des …” is a series of three paintings that are both abstract and representative of trends in life on Earth at different points in its history. It illustrates a cycle that has repeated itself many times over the course of time: periods of species evolution and adaptation, followed by a long period of climatic stability that fosters balanced ecosystems, and finally culminating irrevocably in mass extinctions caused by various natural disasters. This triptych is therefore organized into three distinct compositions: explosive and dynamic (“expansions”), harmonious and diverse (“équilibres”), and motionless, rigid, and classified (“extinctions”).
